***Note: It is acknowledged that certain RMs pay above this salary schedule in recognition of higher administrative responsibilities and workloads.

***Note: The portion of the salary schedule referring to "A" Certificate holders also applies to "B" Certificate holders.

The SARM Board has approved the recommended schedule.  The above schedule applies to and is based on the operation of a single average rural municipality.   It is encouraged that salaries be paid above this guideline in those municipalities requiring greater administrative responsibilities.  It is also recognized that joint municipal offices present a unique structure requiring additional administrative arrangements and salary considerations.

It should be noted that, although the schedule is deemed to represent fair remuneration for the majority of our members, there are some instances that warrant salaries in excess of the recommended schedule. Some municipalities have excess work loads due to resort areas, large industrial assessment base, economic development initiatives, or more densely populated municipalities.

Annual Vacations:

To be consistent with the practise that has been in effect for many years, it is recommended that Rural Administrators be granted vacation time as follows:

  • After 10 Years of Service (legislated) - Four Weeks
  • After 15 Years of Service - Five Weeks
  • After 20 Years of Service - Six Weeks

It is acknowledged and agreed that years of service are portable from one municipality to another.
